The Advent 300
(Sound of the Wood™ series II) are vintage units with totally revamped
power supplies, revisions and upgraded components to exceed the
original specifications. The phono stage in the original Advent 300’s
are very good, with the listed modifications these units are “jaw
dropping”. If you are thinking of spending a thousand or more on a
great pre-amp or phono-stage, do yourself a favor and try one of these
units. You won’t be disappointed!

A recent Advent 300 advertisement:
“The Advent 300 was one of Tomlinson Holman's greatest feats. He
created the first truly "musical" phono stage (at least in the
transistor era) and included this in a moderately priced "Black Box".
Henry Kloss oversaw this project. In the Absolute Sound, Pearson
described this (the phono stage) as nothing short of incredible,
especially when compared to Pre-Amps costing under $1000.00. In the
70’s and on Pearson’s advice many "vinyl cultist" bypassed the tone
controls to gain even more transparency. These units have the "tone
defeat" modification, and is stunning in its depth and transparency.”
